Action Research

In the first two weeks of class, I have learned that Action Research is basically a win - win situation for all the parties involved.  When committing to action research, teachers are basically evaluating themselves in the classroom in order to see where their strengths and weaknesses are so that they may improve on themselves and possible further their professional development in order to make them a more sound teacher in the classroom therefore allowing their students to become better learners in the process and improve overall student successes and achievements.

I feel that this process also makes teachers better co workers and employees.  When you evaluate your needs as a professional, it tends to make you a better co-worker when working with teacher groups and forums in order to improve your school or district.  I also feel this makes your students view you in a different light because they see that you are looking at improving yourself and your teaching style rather than just expecting the students to conform to your style of teaching.  I believe that kids know when you love them and when you are trying to work with them.  If they see you as an individual who is trying to improve themselves to help them, they will be willing to work even hard for you.

I believe that educational leaders could use blogs to post important notices to their fellow administrators and staff.  Also, this tool could be used as a way of posting a message for the day or a thought from the principal's office.  I think people would enjoy reading them.
